The Marshall Fire ignited on December 30, 2021, and swept through the City of Louisville, Town of Superior, and unincorporated Boulder County. Prior to being contained, it destroyed and damaged more than 1,000 homes and over 30 commercial structures.
We actively represent more than 500 individuals impacted by the Marshall Fire in on-going litigation, with trial currently set for later this year (September 2025), with attorney Jessica Teevan appointed to the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee for that litigation.
On December 30, 2021, the Marshall Fire burned through Boulder County. More than 1,000 homes and commercial buildings were damaged or destroyed, and approximately 6,000 acres of land were burned, in this tragic but preventable disaster.
According to the Boulder County Sherriff’s office, discharges from power company Xcel Energy Inc.’s powerlines were the most likely cause of the Marshall Mesa Trailhead fire, which merged with another fire called the “Twelve Tribes Fire” to form the larger, faster-moving Marshall Fire.
Our investigation leads us to conclude that Xcel Energy failed to take appropriate action to prevent this devastating fire and we are holding Xcel Energy accountable in court on behalf of our fire victim clients.
